[Mulgara-general] Mailing list subscriptions

Hi everyone,

When I first started the Mulgara mailing lists I set them up to only accept
mail from members (to reduce spam), and to forward all non-member posts to
me for review. This has been useful on a few occasions when someone new has
posted a message, or when an existing member has used a different reply-to
address.

Unfortunately, this configuration has also led me to having to manually
discard all the spam that comes to the list. When it was just a few per day
then I could deal with it, but now that it's hitting dozens per day (and
growing) I've decided that it's no longer worth the effort. (I could use
rules to help me, but that would become a constant maintenance battle).
>From now on, all mail posted by non-members will be silently discarded (I
don't want replies going out for spam).

This should not affect most people since I rarely ever see a non-member
posting. I'm letting you know just in case someone accidentally uses a
non-subscribed account and wonders why a post never showed up on the list.

Incidentally, if you have a second address that you'd like mail accepted
from (but not posted to), then just let me know, and I can add it to the
acceptance filters. I've already quietly done this for several members who
have used non-member addresses in the past.

Paul
