Thank you, Paul, for the quick and complete response.
I hope that you will be able to help me also with the other question I
posted today on the mail list. I am having a very hard time creating an
entailment based on a simple rule to apply to a successfully loaded set
of RDF triples. This is preventing me from moving forward with my
current project.

Simple answer: No.
Longer answer: Issues in integrating with Jena necessarily took on
some of Jena's scalability problems. We want to put our own reasoner
into Mulgara (and even integrate with other reasoners), but due to
limited resources we are concentrating on scalability and reliability
for 2008.
